How Does It Work?

Acupuncture helps our body switch from sympathetic (fight or flight mode) into parasympathetic (rest and digest) mode, so that we can sleep, digest, fight pathogens, and repair cellular damage. Many acupuncture points are located over nerve bundles, lymph nodes, or muscle trigger points. Some points trigger a release of endorphins or oxytocin, some awaken the immune system, have an anti-inflammatory effect, or increase circulation.

Western medicine can describe and explain some, but not all of acupuncture’s effects, but it can prove without a doubt that acupuncture works. Furthermore, acupuncture doesn’t have the side effects of pharmaceuticals and recognizes that health is not the absence of disease but actually feeling healthy and happy. It reduces fatigue, depression, pain, and stress so that you really feel healthier and happier.

Chinese Medicine has been shown to be extremely helpful for hormonal imbalances including infertility, menopausal symptoms, irregular or painful menstruation, and erectile dysfunction. Many of these treatments  can also be applied to transition-related care, to complement or replace hormone therapy. Chinese medicine has thousands of years of experience in dealing with hot flashes, low libido, erectile dysfunction, vaginal dryness, menstrual spotting, and hair loss, among other symptoms. Acupunture has also been shown to greatly reduce recovery time from surgery and help with post-surgical problems such as lack of sensation and scarring.
